What is an Air Hammer?
An air hammer is an extremely versatile pneumatic tool used for an array of different construction duties.
It is also referred to as an Air Chisel. You can use it to carve, cut, break, smooth, shape or score any metal or concrete surfaces.
Air hammers use pressurized air to make work easier. They work by swinging the hammerhead or chisel back and forth very fast. A good air hammer makes close to 5,000 swings per second.
Granted, it may not be as precise but it does make the work easier and reduces the risk of injury.
Usually, the pressurized air comes in a tank. You have to connect the air hammer to the pressurized air using a pipe or tube.
Air hammers accept different tips depending on the job at hand. Majority of the good brands come with at least 5 different tips for different jobs.
Air hammers can range in size from a compact handheld size to huge over 5 feet tall commercial size.
